Google Analytics users, the Baseline Checker tool is updated to remove its biggest point of friction: manual data exports. Use this tool to choose the right Baseline target for your site.
Previously, you had to manually sign in to your Google Analytics account, set up a data export, download it, and upload it into the tool.
Thanks to recent updates exposing browser version data in the Google Analytics API, the workflow is streamlined. Now, the tool lets you sign in with Google to securely fetch this data using the API. As before, all of your data is processed locally on your device.
Here is how it works:
- Go to baseline-checker.chrome.dev
- Select Sign in with Google and select your Google Account
- Choose your target Google Analytics account and property
- Specify your date range (defaults to the last 28 days)
- Select Generate Report to fetch and process the data
With a few clicks, you can get a clear report showing the exact proportion of your users that support specific Baseline targets, without the need to manually export the data from Google Analytics.
Use the updated Baseline Checker tool to make more data-driven decisions about which features (or fallbacks) you can use in production.
